Welcome to Manor House Patient Participation Group
'By Patients for Patients'
We are a friendly, inclusive group of volunteer patients from a variety of backgrounds who are interested in health and healthcare issues. We discuss and identify ways in which we can engage with other patients and support the surgery. We meet regularly once a month and work closely with the staff providing positive contributions to the services and facilities offered by the practice. The PPG is an important forum for patients’ views to be shared with the GPs and staff and for the surgery to discuss their proposed developments.
Our aims are:-
- To offer opinions in a constructive manner and to put forward ideas on behalf of patients.
- To improve the provision of health care.
- To improve communication between surgery, patients and the wider community about matters concerning the surgery and health in general.
- To provide assistance in the development of new services.
- To encourage a spirit of self help and support amongst patients to improve their health and social care.
For PPG members:-
- To gain a better understanding of how the surgery functions
- To learn about the NHS and its services
- To learn about health matters and how they should be managed
For the patients:-
- To be encouraged to take more responsibility for their own health.
- To gain a better understanding and knowledge of the practice.
- To receive up-to-date information on practice matters and current health care issues
- To have a forum to suggest positive ideas and voice concerns
For the practice:-
- GPs and their staff are able to plan services with the help of patients.
- To have a forum for GPs and staff to voice concerns, ideas and suggestions to patients.
- To have closer links with the community for whom they care.
